One tenth separates Dixon from the front row

RCB GASGAS Aspar rider will start the Malaysian Grand Prix from eighth place. Izan Guevara has suffered a heavy bump on his right ankle, but he has been able to qualify in twenty-fifth position

Fermín Aldeguer continues with his good shape in the Malaysian Grand Prix and today has taken his third pole position in a row. The Spanish rider has set the fastest time of the session on his first flying lap, a 2:05.288 to which none of his rivals have been able to get close to. Celestino Vietti and Manu Gonzalez complete the front row after finishing half a second off Aldeguer's time and lead a group of up to seven riders separated by one tenth and a half. Pedro Acosta and Tony Arbolino will start from sixth and seventh position respectively. If the Italian does not finish in the top three, Acosta will become world champion, so Arbolino will need to come back and wait for a bad day from Acosta. The Spanish is in a privileged situation and could win the title even without scoring points.

RCB GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon will start the Malaysian Grand Prix from the third row after finishing just over a tenth off second place. The British had arrived to qualifying with the third fastest time in the combined timesheets, but in Q2 he has not been able to improve his lap and will begin from eighth place. Despite this, Dixon has shown that he can be fast on this track and will try to come back tomorrow. His teammate Izan Guevara has suffered a heavy crash at the start of the last practice and has been taken to the circuit's medical centre. After some initial explorations, the Spanish has gone to a nearby hospital, where he has undergone an MRI scan that has detected a small fracture in his right foot. Despite this, Guevara has been able to take part in Q1, although he was still affected by the incident. Guevara has gone out on track as soon as he has received the OK from the doctors and he has improved yesterday's time by one tenth. Finally, the Spanish rider has achieved the twenty-fifth place on the grid and hopes to receive the medical approval again tomorrow in order to fight for a good result.

8th Jake Dixon 2:05.929: “It has been a very tight qualifying. We have ended up just over a tenth off second place, but in the end, we have finished eighth. It's not the grid position we wanted, but we'll try to come back tomorrow.”

25th Izan Guevara 2:06.889: “It has been a tough day in which we have had to overcome several difficulties. I have had a big crash in the last practice and I have suffered a bump on my ankle. After some medical tests, we have seen that I have a small fracture in my right fibula. Even so, I have taken part in qualifying. I have improved yesterday's time by a tenth, but I have finished the session in 25th place.”
