EMILIA ROMAGNA GP

Moto2 is tightening and Dixon wants to enter the fight

The CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider is fifth in the standings, just three points off third place and 45 off the leader

The Moto2 World Championship returns to Misano and does so with a new leader: Ai Ogura. The Japanese rider shone two weeks ago at the Misano World Circuit - Marco Simoncelli, where he achieved his third victory of the season, a win that allowed him to overtake in the World Championship his teammate, and leader until then , Sergio García. Now, Ogura faces the fourteenth GP of the season with a nine-point advantage over García. The Spanish rider had led the standings since the fifth race of the year, the French GP. However, he has not been on the podium since he was third in Assen, before the summer break, and in the race in Misano two weeks ago he could only finish twelfth. Neither of them can take any confidence in the last part of the season. Joe Roberts and Alonso Lopez, third and fourth respectively, are tied at 42 points off Ogura, a gap that could be drastically reduced if the leading riders make a mistake. CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon, who is 45 points off the leader and just three off third place, completes the top five in the Moto2 World Championship.

At the Emilia-Romagna GP, Dixon has the opportunity to continue his comeback and climb to third place in the standings. At the San Marino GP, the British finished fifth after a difficult weekend in which he had to fight back from fourteenth position on the grid. Dixon was satisfied with the result, but this weekend he wants more. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider will fight to score his sixth podium of the season to be able to fully enter into the title fight. His teammate Izan Guevara arrives in Misano after two difficult races in which he has not been able to score points. The Spanish, who knows what it is like to get on the podium in Misano during his time in Moto3, wants to turn things around and will fight to complete a positive weekend that would mark a turning point in his season before heading off to the oversea races.

Jake Dixon: “Last weekend in Misano we reached a fifth position that felt like a victory for us on a track where we had not achieved great results previously, and we did it starting from the fifth row. We have to make a step forward on Saturday to make our job easier on Sunday.”

Izan Guevara: “We did not end up happy with the first weekend in Misano after making big changes to the bike. I was struggling to stop the bike, we know where the problem is, and we will try to fix it this weekend.”
