Le Mans challenges CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team

Dani Holgado and David Alonso faced difficult conditions at the start of the French Grand Prix and finished seventeenth and nineteenth respectively

The French Grand Prix offered, as usual, a challenging day at the Le Mans circuit. The low temperatures and the constant changes in the weather forecast posed a great challenge for Dani Holgado and David Alonso. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders worked hard to adapt to the track on a day that was also eventful in the intermediate category. Holgado and Alonso did not make it through to Q2 after finishing seventeenth and nineteenth respectively, so tomorrow they will have to give their best to get a good place on the starting grid. On this day, Manu González once again demonstrated that he is a strong candidate for the Moto2 title by being the fastest in France. Three tenths behind, Diogo Moreira was second fastest and Filip Salac was third.

Holgado tried to adapt quickly to the circuit with the Moto2 although, on this occasion, it was not an easy task. In the morning, the Spaniard was unable to get close to the leading riders, although he took advantage of every minute to prepare for the afternoon practice. In that session, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider managed to lap one second faster than in the morning session, but his 1:35.759 did not allow him to get into the Q2 places and he was seventeenth. His teammate David Alonso did not have the best start of the weekend either. After suffering a crash in the morning free practice, Alonso faced the afternoon practice ready to go one step further, but a second crash left him out of Q2 with a time of 1:35.831 and after having remained among the top fourteen for almost the entire session.

17th Dani Holgado 1:35.759 (+1.015): “We have finished a very hard first day at Le Mans, but we still have a lot of work to do. We are happy with how the day went, although the result was not the best. In the afternoon we made a big step forward compared to the morning, we improved the time by more than a second. I'm looking forward to continuing improving and learning tomorrow, we will try to take that little step we need to be more competitive.”

19th David Alonso 1:35.831 (+1.087): “It was a complicated day because we couldn't ride much due to the crashes. The track with the Moto2 bike becomes smaller and you have to turn well with the throttle. I also felt a lot of vibrations and I was trying to improve in the last practice, but I crashed again. The track is not easy, but tomorrow we will keep working to get to Q2.”
