RCB GASGAS Aspar rider closes the Malaysian GP with eleven more points. Guevara has not finished the race due to an incident on the third lap
Pedro Acosta is the new Moto2 World Champion. The Spanish rider has taken the title at the Malaysian Grand Prix and has thus rounded off an exceptional season. With today's second place, Acosta has achieved 7 wins and 14 podiums in 18 races, outstanding numbers that have crowned him as the best in the category with two races still to go. Acosta has already achieved two World Championship titles in three years and he will make the leap to MotoGP after becoming the youngest rider in history to win the Moto2 title.
Fermín Aldeguer has not given any options to his rivals and has taken victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix with a gap of more than seven seconds over the second placed rider. The Spanish, who started from pole position, has achieved his second win in a row and is only 21 points off the rider in third, RCB GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon. Pedro Acosta and Marcos Ramírez have completed the top 3, with Ramírez taking his first podium finish since he started to compete in Moto2.
RCB GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has finished the Malaysian Grand Prix in fifth place after overtaking Alonso López on the last lap. The British rider has scored eleven more points and remains third in the overall standings. Dixon has now two races to go to fight again for the podium and close the season in the top 3. His teammate Izan Guevara has not been able to finish the race due to a crash on the third lap. The Spanish rider, who has finally been declared fit by the doctors, has not achieved the result he expected and will have to keep working in the next two GPs and to close the season with a good feeling.
5th Jake Dixon (+11.652): “I arrived here after two difficult races. In Australia I dislocated my shoulder and in Thailand I made a mistake when I had the pace to fight for the podium. After that, finishing fifth today is very positive. We have not got the better bike set-up, but we know where we can improve. I want to look forward and get back on the podium.”
Izan Guevara (DNF): “I have crashed on the third lap. From the beginning I have not had good feelings with the front tyre and I have suffered a crash that I don't understand. The race has ended too soon for us, but we have to keep working to get the results we deserve.”
