The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has won from pole in Aragón and has scored his fourth consecutive podium
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Dixon is in top form and has shown it again at the Aragón GP. The British has scored his second victory of the year in a race in which he has been the strongest from start to finish. Dixon shone yesterday in qualifying and got his first pole of the season. Today, he has again imposed his pace to win for the second time in the last three races. At the start, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has given his rivals no chance: he has held the first position and has tried to open a gap at the front. Only Tony Arbolino has been able to follow him, in fact, he has been really close to Dixon for most of the race and has managed to overtake him on the fourth lap. However, today the British had something more and has been able to return the overtake to regain first position and has hold it until the end. Dixon has crossed the finish line with an advantage of more than a second over the Italian and more than five over third-placed Deniz Öncü.
The British left Assen with a disadvantage of 105 points in the World Championship, fourteenth and, at first glance, with no chance of fighting for the Moto2 crown after having been fourth the previous year. Since that day, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider has been always on the podium, twice on the top step. This has catapulted him to fifth position in the standings, much closer to the leader. In these four races, Dixon has got 86 points, 62 more than Sergio García. The Moto2 World Championship standings are increasingly tight, with six riders within 50 points. García, who has had to retire in MotorLand, is only 12 points ahead of second-placed Ai Ogura, who has finished eighth. Alonso López, fourth today, has overtaken Joe Roberts in the standings and is only 29 points off García.
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team has experienced the ups and downs of racing this Sunday at the Aragón GP. While Dixon has got his second victory, his teammate Izan Guevara has crashed on the first lap. The Spanish has started from fifteenth position and was confident of being able to come back to fight for the front positions. The rain that fell during the night has made the track conditions really difficult on the outside of the line, something that has been key in Guevara's race. In the third corner, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has hit the dirt and has crashed, thus losing all his chances of achieving a great result on a track where he won in Moto3 the last Aragón GP. With no time to rest, the World Championship travels to Misano for the thirteenth round of the season, and there Guevara will fight to get a good result and leave the Aragón race behind.
WIN Jake Dixon: "Winning races is incredible, I am living a dream. I am very happy. I feel very lucky to be in the position I am, doing what I like most. I did not expect such a fast pace as the one I have had. Today I am really satisfied with the race, I have been able to withstand the pressure of the second and win the race. I want to dedicate this victory to my crew chief, Quique, who has not been able to be with us on the track, but he has followed us closely."
Izan Guevara (crash): "There is little to tell about the race. On the first lap, I have gone off the line on the third corner and I have crashed. We have to improve on Saturdays, because as long as I keep starting from so far back, these things will continue to happen. We have the pace, but we need to improve in qualifying."
