Jake Dixon starts among the fastest in Thailand

The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has finished the first day in Buriram in fourth position, just four tenths off the best time

The Thai GP has started with Aron Canet on top of the timesheets. The Spanish rider has led the practice session in Buriram after completing a lap in 1:35.192, a register with which he has set a new track record. Canet has ended just 218 thousandths ahead of the second, Tony Arbolino, and 250 ahead of the third, Marcos Ramírez, who had been fastest in the morning. Meanwhile, the leader of the World Championship, Ai Ogura, has only been able to finish sixth, a result that would not be enough to crown him world champion on Sunday if Canet wins the race.

CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon has started the Thai GP with a good feeling. The British has set the fourteenth best time in the free practice session, a result that he has been able to improve significantly in the afternoon. Dixon has reduced his time by more than eight tenths from one session to the next and has managed to climb up to fourth position, just four tenths off the best time. His teammate Izan Guevara has not had an easy Friday in Thailand. The Spanish rider has been very competitive in the first minutes of the first practice session and, despite a crash, he has finished with the fifth best time, just one tenth off the fastest. In the afternoon, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has crashed again and that has affected his work in the session. Guevara has only been able to complete eight laps and has finished in eleventh position. With this result, both CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders are in provisional Q2 positions. Tomorrow, they will have another opportunity to progress before qualifying.

4th Jake Dixon 1:35.608 (+0.416): “Today we have focused on working on our pace. The first practice has not been easy because we have had a problem with the rear brake at the beginning and we have had to come in. Then, there has been a red flag, and we have lost a lot of time. The second session has been better: I have been able to complete a long run and, although I have not been very fast. I have come in, and we have made a change. After that, on one lap, it felt so much better. We still have work to do. Tomorrow we will fight to get a good grid position.”

11th Izan Guevara 1:35.891 (+0.699): “The feeling has been really good, but I have crashed twice, and I lost a lot of time of track action. We will take the positives. We are eleventh, but we could be much further ahead. We are strong and tomorrow we will try to continue with this pace.”
