Jake Dixon fought for the podium again at Motegi and comes back to the circuit where he took his first pole position. Guevara will try to score points for the third weekend in a row
With fewer and fewer points still up for grabs, Pedro Acosta looks closer and closer to the Moto2 title. The Spanish rider is the solid Moto2 leader and has already scored eleven podiums in fourteen races, showing a consistency that has allowed him to lead the standings since the British Grand Prix. Acosta has an advantage of 50 points over Tony Arbolino and 93 points over third placed, Inde GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon. The weekend in Indonesia, which could be marked by the weather conditions as in most of the flyaway races, is a new opportunity for Acosta to consolidate his lead, although he will have to keep an eye on riders like Somkiat Chantra, who achieved his first World Championship victory at the Mandalika circuit last year and took the win in Japan after completing a perfect weekend, or Aron Canet, who will try to get back to the podium as he did in Indonesia in 2022.
Inde GASGAS Aspar faces the Indonesian Grand Prix in a good moment. Jake Dixon arrives at Mandalika after fighting for the podium in Japan and comes back with the memory of his maiden pole position there last year. The British rider is third in the standings, 43 points behind second place. Dixon was able to overcome a difficult start of the weekend at Motegi to finish fourth, two seconds off the podium, and will be looking to use that strength to keep getting closer to Tony Arbolino. His teammate Izan Guevara heads into the Indonesian Grand Prix in his best shape of the season. The current Moto3 World Champion has scored points in the last two races and aims to do it again at a circuit where he finished second last year. Guevara keeps taking steps forward and little by little he is feeling more comfortable with the bike. Mandalika will be a test of the Spanish rider's improvement, who expects to pass this challenge on a good note.
Jake Dixon: “In Japan, the teamwork led us to fight for the podium in the race. No matter how the weekend starts or how tough is the challenge we face, we have shown that working together we are almost unstoppable, and we must continue like this in the next Grands Prix to finish the year fighting for more podiums and victories.”
Izan Guevara: “This is the second time we compete in Indonesia. Last year we finished second and I remember that I ended the race very tired because of the extreme conditions. It's a circuit that I like, although it doesn't have any points to rest. We will try to keep adapting the bike to my riding style and I will keep pushing as hard as I can. We want to take another step forward.”
