Jake Dixon and Izan Guevara continue to work on their bikes to arrive at the start of the competition in the best possible conditions
In seven days the green lights will shine again at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve to start a new season of the Motorcycle World Championship. Before, the riders of the intermediate category still have one last pre-season test, of which they have already completed the first day. Fastest today was Aron Canet, closely followed by Pedro Acosta, who finished 22 thousandths behind his compatriot. In Portimao, 29 of the 30 riders in the category have coincided on the track, with the notable absence of the current runner-up in the category Ai Ogura, injured in his hand in winter training.
In the ranks of the Inde GASGAS Aspar Team, Jake Dixon has finished in the top six in two of the three practice sessions of the day in Portimao. The British rider was fourth in the morning and sixth in the afternoon, while at noon he finished twelfth. Dixon continues to work on the Kalex to arrive at the first race in optimal conditions to fight for a good result in Portimao. Teammate and current Moto3 world champion Izan Guevara closed the first day of testing in Portugal with a better feeling on the bike, although still with room for improvement in what is his debut season in the intermediate category. Guevara continues adding kilometers on his new bike and has completed a total of 45 laps on the Portuguese track, where two more days of testing await tomorrow and Sunday.
Jake Dixon (1:43.614, 44 laps): “We keep working, we completed more than 40 laps in Portimao today and we have two more days to fine-tune the set-up of the bike and fight for a good result. In Moto2 everything is very close and a few tenths can mean a great change of positions.”
Izan Guevara (1:46.689, 45 laps): “We keep trying to improve our sensations on the bike, because I'm still not completely comfortable, but with each start we are improving both my riding and the set-up of the bike. We are on the way, it is not an easy category, but if we continue working like this we will be in front soon.”
