Jake Dixon wants to continue finishing on the podium and to fight for first Moto2 victory in 2023, a year of adaptation to the intermediate category for Izan Guevara, who won’t be on the Portuguese GP grid due to injury. His substitute will be Openbank Aspar Team rider Jordi Torres

The Moto2 World Championship faces a new edition with maximum expectation. After the leap of Augusto Fernández to MotoGP, a new ream of contenders for the world championship title has opened up. Riders with experience in the category such as Pedro Acosta, current runner-up Ai Ogura, Aron Canet and Tony Arbolino will have the opportunity to fight for a title that is extremely contested this year. In addition, the appearance of eight rookies in the intermediate category, including current Moto3 World Champion Izan Guevara, will add even more excitement and uncertainty to the championship.

Jake Dixon arrives at the first Grand Prix of the year ready to give his all on the track. Dixon finished on the podium six times in 2022, what allowed him to finish in sixth place in the standings. The Inde GASGAS Aspar rider, who finished in the top ten in the last pre-season test last week in Portimao, will try to assert his experience in the category to fight for the podium and achieve his first victory in the intermediate category. At the Portuguese Grand Prix he not have his teammate Izan Guevara due to injury. Jordi Torres, MotoE Openbank Aspar Team rider, will be his substitute. Torres, who returns to the intermediate category nine years after a four-season stage with the Aspar Team in Moto2. Torres will start with the disadvantage of not having been able to try the Kalex in the pre-season tests held on the Portuguese track last week, but he will try to take advantage of all the time available on the track to be ready for the start of the MotoE season.

Jake Dixon: "I'm really looking forward to the start of the season. It's going to be a long championship, with 21 races, where everything can happen. We will have to be consistent because my goal is to fight for the championship. We'll see what we can do, we'll stay focused and we'll go for everything.”

Jordi Torres: "I hope Izan can make a speedy recovery. It's a pity that after the great season he had last year he starts this season like this, but the most important thing is that he can come back stronger than before. In my case, I am happy for the opportunity that the Inde GASGAS Aspar Team gives me, to return to a category that I left in 2014 with this team. Everything is different to what I left ten years ago, I take it as a learning experience and as more practice for the MotoE World Championship. I want to keep learning from my rivals, who will be at a different level, because a rider never stops learning. It's a big challenge for me, it will be strange to be back at the intermediate category, but it will help me to keep working on my goal for MotoE. I won't have an adaptation period, because my rivals have been testing at Portimao for three days, but I will give my best.”
