Pedro Acosta has had a peculiar start to the Indonesian Grand Prix. The championship leader has suffered a heavy crash in the first practice and has only been able to complete one lap. However, in the afternoon the Spanish has shown why he is the strongest rider in the category and has recovered from the crash setting the new track record on his third lap. Acosta has been improving his own time throughout the session and has closed the opening day of the Grand Prix in first position with a lap of 1:34.456. Aron Canet, who has also been solid during the day, and Sam Lowes, who has set his time on the final part of the session, complete the first top 3 of the weekend.
The Inde GASGAS Aspar has closed the first day of the Indonesian Grand Prix laying the foundations for the weekend. In the morning, Jake Dixon has been able to beat the track record, but he has finally ended the first practice session in third position. In the afternoon, the British rider has improved his time, but he has not had a good feeling with the bike. Dixon has finished the day in sixth place and aims to improve the bike's set-up tomorrow to repeat on pole position at Mandalika. His teammate Izan Guevara has ended in sixteenth position after a day in which he has suffered physical problems. Despite the difficulties, Guevara keeps growing with the bike and has finished just over a tenth off the provisional Q2 places.
6th Jake Dixon 1:34.970 (+0.514): “The first practice has been positive, but the second one has not gone as well. We have not been able to solve the problems I have had in the morning. We need to keep working to find where the mistakes are and see if we can progress.”
16th Izan Guevara 1:35.442 (+0.986): “I have had stomach problems all day and I couldn't enjoy. Despite this, we have been able to save the situation and we have finished sixteenth, close to the places that give provisional access to Q2. If tomorrow I feel good physically, we can make a step forward. I feel comfortable with the bike and we'll keep giving our all.”
