The Spanish rider achieved the ninth fastest time of the day after making it through Q1. Colombian David Alonso did not make the cut and will have to fight his way up from the seventh row tomorrow
The Dutch Grand Prix showed two sides of the coin for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team. After both riders had to go through Q1, only Dani Holgado made the cut and fought for the top 10 to take ninth position on the grid. David Alonso, on the other hand, finished 21st on a day when pain on his shoulder prevented him from shining. On this occasion, it was Diogo Moreira who took pole position at the TT Circuit Assen, followed by Iván Ortolá and Manu González.
The CFMOTO Aspar Team riders completed this second day in dry conditions, although with more wind than the previous day. Dani Holgado and David Alonso were unable to secure direct passage to Q2 in Assen yesterday, so this morning they took part in free practice focused not only on the race simulation, but also on fine-tuning some aspects that would allow them to improve in this afternoon's qualifying. In Q1, both riders improved their times and lapped under 1:36 for the first time all weekend. In the last minute, Holgado lowered his own record to advance to Q2 as the fastest. Alonso, on the other hand, did not make the cut due to physical problems with his shoulder and will start tomorrow's race at Assen from 21st position. Holgado completed the last session of the day looking to shave off a few tenths to move up on the grid. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider played his last card on the final lap to set his best time of the weekend, a 1:35.277, which put him in ninth position.
9º Dani Holgado 1:35.277: “I'm super happy with how I felt today, especially because of the big step forward we've made compared to yesterday, both in terms of pace and the time attack. I have to keep working with the team to improve some aspects, small details, that will allow us to keep moving forward. I'm looking forward to getting back to racing; we've always started from the front three rows of the grid since Silverstone, and tomorrow I want to have a good race to fight for that top 10 finish.”
21º David Alonso 1:35.956: “In addition to the problems I had on track, where I always lose time in the same corners -although I was able to improve somewhat on the fast ones-, I've had another one: my arm. In the morning, I had to stop during the session because after a few laps my left arm was bothering me when changing direction at high speed. During qualifying, I tried to give it my all with the first tyre; I knew I wouldn't be able to do any more on the second run.”
