The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider finished twelfth in a survival race at Sachsenring, while David Alonso crashed as he was closing in on the top 10
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team ended a difficult race in Germany, with Dani Holgado in twelfth position after recovering from twentieth place on the first lap and fighting to reach the top 10 in the standings, before the race was stopped due to a crash. David Alonso suffered a crash with five laps to go while riding in similar positions to his teammate and was unable to finish the German Grand Prix. The event ended with victory for Turkey's Deniz Öncü, followed by Belgium's Barry Baltus and Britain's Jake Dixon in second and third place respectively.
The riders in the intermediate category faced a difficult race and constant changes in track conditions throughout the weekend influenced the final set-up of the bikes. Sunday's race was declared dry after a wet qualifying session that relegated Holgado and Alonso to the fifth and sixth rows of the grid. As a result, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders, gave their all to make up positions from the start. Dani Holgado lost a few places in the early laps, but the Spanish rider went from strength to strength. Aware of the importance of consistency on this circuit, he was able to get back into the points zone and was aiming to finish in the top 10 again this weekend. However, the race was stopped earlier than expected due to a crash when he was twelfth, and he did not have the opportunity to continue climbing positions. On the other hand, David Alonso felt good from the moment the lights went out, which allowed him to quickly make up positions. The reigning Moto3 world champion was able to stay calm in a very demanding race to find his own rhythm. Unfortunately, the Colombian was involved in an incident with five laps to go, when he was in eleventh position and another rider rejoined the track, unable to avoid him. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team leaves Germany with mixed feelings and ready to contest the last race before the summer break next week.
12th Dani Holgado (+9.016): “It was a very competitive race. It's a circuit where it's quite difficult to overtake because it's very narrow. I gave it everything I had and the pace, in general, it wasn't bad. In the final part of the race, I was riding at a similar pace to the leading group, so we have to focus on the positives. I dropped a little behind at the beginning because I didn't get off to a great start and I struggled to make up the lost positions. Today we learned a new lesson, we have to keep working in the same direction and with the same enthusiasm.”
David Alonso (DNF): “The dry race allowed us to get off to a good start and take the first corners well. With the front tyre choice we made, I struggled a bit to find my pace at the beginning. I kept calm and moved forward. I was enjoying myself, always trying not to lose patience, but there was a moment when Moreira rejoined the track and I couldn't avoid him. I hope he's okay. A lot has happened to us, but we're leaving Germany with a smile and ready to keep working.”
