Holgado holds onto the top positions

The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider posted the second fastest time of the day, with his teammate David Alonso in eighth place

The entire CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar team will compete in Q2 at the Indonesian Grand Prix. Dani Holgado was once again one of the best riders, finishing in second place, two tenths behind Moto2 leader Manu González, who was the fastest rider on Friday. Daniel Muñoz was third, just a few thousandths off Holgado. Fellow rookie David Alonso set the eighth fastest time after a very positive day at the Mandalika circuit.

Dani Holgado and David Alonso started the Indonesian Grand Prix in harsh weather conditions, which were very demanding for both the riders and their bikes. CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar worked hard to achieve a good set-up and find the best possible feeling from the start of the weekend, which was reflected in the results of this morning's free practice: Holgado was second and Alonso seventh. In the afternoon, the rookies in the intermediate category took to the track and improved their times, keen to consolidate their progress and secure a place in Q2 on Saturday. Dani Holgado showed great pace in practice and continued to learn from the more experienced riders in the category. The Spaniard, who set his best time (1:33.186) on the penultimate lap, finished the first day in second place. His teammate David Alonso also improved as the session progressed and took advantage of this session to continue adjusting the set-up of his bike. The Colombian was unable to improve on his practice time in the final minutes, but his 1:33.460 was enough to secure eighth place and confirm his direct passage to Q2.

2nd Dani Holgado 1:33.186 (+0.190): “It's been a good start in Indonesia. I'm happy with our current form. I got a pretty good result in the morning, improving and gaining confidence with the track, the bike, and myself. In the afternoon, we maintained the same approach, but we changed a few things and I was able to improve. I need to ride a little more to understand some aspects, because sometimes it comes more from instinct, but tomorrow we'll continue working to increase that confidence. The second sector is the most complicated area: there are very fast corners, which are not difficult, but it's a matter of confidence and going at full speed. I feel very comfortable on the rest of the track, but there's always room for improvement. Tomorrow we'll see in qualifying; it will be a difficult session with so many riders together.”

8th David Alonso 1:33.460 (+0.464): “It’s been a positive first day. We focused a lot on aspects I wasn’t used to focus on. In Moto2 you have to worry more about the bike’s setup, and that’s something I didn’t need to do as much in Moto3. When you want to find those tenths that would put you at the front, you have to be very precise with the setup, so I’m working hard with the team to find out how to get the most out of the bike and fine-tune it a little more. The goal is for me to be able to ride more comfortably, without pushing myself to the limit.”
