The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider will start seventh at Le Mans after passing through Q1
Aron Canet has surprised in the Moto2 French Grand Prix qualifying and has taken pole position despite not being at one hundred percent after the crash at the Spanish Grand Prix. Canet has set a time of 1:35.037 which will allow him to start from pole position tomorrow, but getting there has not been easy. The Spanish rider has had to go through Q1 and, after getting to the front in Q2, he has crashed and has been unable to do a final lap. Despite his crash, nobody has managed to improve his lap time. World Championship leader Joe Roberts has finished second just a tenth behind and Sergio García has been third.
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara has achieved his best qualifying position of his Moto2 career. The Spanish rider will start from seventh in the French Grand Prix after contesting Q1 and achieving a place in Q2. Guevara has shown great progress throughout the weekend and in qualifying he has ended half a second off pole. In the race, the challenge for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider will be to fight with the front group and score again as he did in Jerez. His teammate, Jake Dixon, will start from eleventh position. The British rider had entered directly into Q2, but a crash has conditioned his qualifying practice. As a consequence, he has only been able to do three laps and tomorrow he will be looking for a comeback from the fourth row of the grid.
7th Izan Guevara 1:35.599 (+0.562): "We are improving every time we go out on track, more and more. I am happy with this seventh position, it is my best so far, and I know we have a good set-up for the race. In qualifying, the grip has been very low and the bike was sliding a lot, but that is something that all the riders had to deal with. We will see if it rains or not, but if it is a dry race, we have a clear idea. If it is wet, it will be new for everyone."
11th Jake Dixon 1:35.808 (+0.771): "I am fine physically after the crash. I do not understand why, but we have to keep working for tomorrow's race and give our all because we start from the fourth row."
