The CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team rider has come back to third position at the Malaysian GP and has finished just ahead of his teammate Jake Dixon
CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara will always remember the 2024 Malaysian GP. The Spanish has achieved the first podium of his Moto2 career after 37 races in the intermediate category. Guevara, who has started from eleventh position, has made a great start and after the first lap he was already fifth. He has stayed in the chasing group throughout the race and has fought until the end to get on the podium. With three laps to go, he has climbed up to fourth position and, on the last lap, he has overtaken his teammate Jake Dixon to achieve this. The British has made a great comeback in Sepang, but he has not been able to complete it in the best way. Dixon has started from twelfth on the grid and as the laps have gone by, he has overtaken his rivals until, with six laps remaining, he has reached third position. Only one lap has separated the CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team rider from returning to the podium, but he has stopped accelerating when he has crossed the finish line on the penultimate lap. As a result, Guevara has overtaken him and Dixon has finished just outside the podium.
In front, Celestino Vietti has achieved his third victory of the season after leading all the laps. The Italian has started from third position, has taken the lead at the start and has showed a much higher pace with which he has given his rivals no chance. Behind him has ended the poleman Jorge Navarro, who is replacing the injured Joe Roberts this weekend. The top riders in the category have not had an easy day in Sepang: Ai Ogura has had to retire after a problem with his bike, while Aron Canet has finished in eighth position, a result that seals his second place in the Moto2 championship.
Valencia and its citizens are experiencing one of the most challenging moments in recent history. The surrounding areas of the city are facing a severe climate emergency due to intense rainfall and flash floods. Thousands of families have lost their homes, businesses, and access to basic services like drinking water, electricity, and safe shelter. At Aspar Team, in collaboration with GoFundMe, we have launched this campaign to support those affected, providing immediate aid and hope to those most in need. Every donation is backed by our guarantee, ensuring that funds go directly to those impacted by this crisis.

3rd Izan Guevara (+3.265): “I want to dedicate this podium to all the people from Valencia. These two years in Moto2 have been very difficult, but we have never given up. I have always worked with my team to move forward. Race after race I have gained speed and confidence. I think I could have achieved this podium earlier, but the opportunity never came. Today's race has been very difficult, but I have taken advantage of the fact that I am very strong physically to push in the last laps."
4th Jake Dixon (+4.502): "It has not been an easy weekend because of everything that has happened in Valencia. It was a great race, I had managed to get to the front positions and I was fighting for the podium, but it has not been possible. Now it is time to think about closing the season in the best possible way."
