SAN MARINO GP

Guevara improves in an unlucky day for Dixon

The Inde GASGAS Aspar rider has finished just 68 thousandths off qualifying for Q2. Two yellow flags and a crash have left Dixon in fourteenth place

The home fans will see a local rider start tomorrow's Moto2 San Marino Grand Prix race from the front of the grid. Celestino Vietti has stopped the clock at 1:36.201 to take the pole position ahead of Pedro Acosta. The Spanish rider has seen how his best lap has been cancelled due to the presence of yellow flags on the track and will start the twelfth race of the year in second position. Acosta will have a good opportunity tomorrow to increase the gap to Tony Arbolino, who has had to go through Q1 and will finally start from ninth. Manu González closes the top 3 and will make his debut on the front row of the grid this season.

Inde GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has not been able to give his best in the qualifying session of the San Marino Grand Prix. The British has been hampered by yellow flags due to crashes of several rivals in the final part of the session and the presence of other riders in his line when he was on a fast lap. Dixon will start from fourteenth place, but is confident that he can make up positions from the beginning of the race to finish the San Marino Grand Prix with a good result. His teammate, Izan Guevara, will start from nineteenth after finishing just 68 thousandths off qualifying into Q2. The Spanish has missed the chance to fight for a better grid position, but he is finding good feelings with the bike. The current Moto3 World Champion is getting more and more comfortable and is already close to being able to fight with the strongest riders of the category.

14th Jake Dixon 1:36.889: “I should have gone straight out on new tyres because then there were a lot of yellow flags. Also, on the last lap, two riders were in the middle of the line and have ruined the lap for us. It's frustrating, but that's what it is. We will keep working tomorrow, we have the speed.”

19th Izan Guevara 1:36.859: “I'm very happy with my feeling today. I have been more comfortable and I have ridden the bike as I like. We have finished just a few thousandths off qualifying into Q2. We will start from nineteenth, we will try to set a good pace and complete a good race.”
