After both making it straight into Q2, Izan Guevara and Jake Dixon will start from eleventh and twelfth position respectively
The first position on the grid for the Malaysian GP is occupied by an unusual rider: Jorge Navarro. The Spanish, who is replacing the injured Joe Roberts, has shone in qualifying in Sepang and has got his first Moto2 pole since 2019. It has been a record pole position, after beating by three tenths the previous all-time lap record, held by Brad Binder since 2019. Navarro has ended just 63 thousandths ahead of his teammate Marcos Ramírez, who will start from second position, and 147 thousandths ahead of Celestino Vietti, who will start from third position.
The CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team will start the Malaysian GP from the fourth row of the grid. Both Izan Guevara and Jake Dixon have gone straight into Q2 after finishing among the fourteen fastest in the final practice, a session that has once again shown the great evenness that reigns in Moto2, with the top fifteen within half a second. In the qualifying session, Guevara has only completed two attempts and it has been on his last lap when he has set a time of 2:04.944, which is enough for him to start from eleventh position. Tomorrow, the Spanish will fight to recover positions in the first laps and be able to fight in the front group, as he did last week in the Thai GP. His teammate Jake Dixon will start just behind him, from twelfth place. The CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team rider has set his time, 2:05.004, in the first minutes of the session, but has been unable to improve it on his second outing on the track. The British, who has always been in the top five throughout the weekend, has not felt comfortable in qualifying and on his last lap he has crashed for the second time this weekend.
Valencia and its citizens are experiencing one of the most challenging moments in recent history. The surrounding areas of the city are facing a severe climate emergency due to intense rainfall and flash floods. Thousands of families have lost their homes, businesses, and access to basic services like drinking water, electricity, and safe shelter. At Aspar Team, in collaboration with GoFundMe, we have launched this campaign to support those affected, providing immediate aid and hope to those most in need. Every donation is backed by our guarantee, ensuring that funds go directly to those impacted by this crisis.

11th Izan Guevara 2:04.944 (+0.532): “It has been a good second day, we have a great pace. In Q2, I have almost high sided and I have not been able to complete a good lap. I could have done a better lap with a reference. Tomorrow's race will be long and we will give our all. We start from the fourth row, it is a better grid position than in Thailand and we will fight to get to the front group. I want to have fun and enjoy fighting for the leading positions.”
12th Jake Dixon 2:05.004 (+0.592): “Today I am a bit sore from yesterday's crash, but that is no excuse. I have felt quite good this weekend, even this morning, but to be fair I don’t know what has happened in qualifying, I have to look the data. I have not felt good to complete a good lap, I felt on the limit and I have crashed. I don’t think there was much for me. Tomorrow I will give my 110%.”
