Dixon to lead third row in Indonesia

The Inde GASGAS Aspar rider will try to make the most of his podium chances from the seventh place on the grid

Aron Canet has been the fastest rider of the day and has taken a pole position that has been decided by thousandths. The Spanish had already been the strongest in the last free practice and has arrived to the qualifying session ready to show his potential. Canet, who achieved a podium finish at Mandalika last year, has quickly set his best lap and will start from the first position on the grid for the second time this season. Manu González has ended up just three thousandths behind, while Filip Salac has finished only nineteen thousandths off. Moto2 leader Pedro Acosta and Fermín Aldeguer complete the top 5 after also finishing less than a tenth off Canet's time.

Inde GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon will lead the third row of the grid at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The British rider has had to go through Q1 after a difficult last practice session. Dixon has recovered well and has achieved the best time of the session to access Q2, where he has not been able to get a better result after not completing a good last sector. The British rider knows that he has the speed to compete with the best and will try to be the surprise from the seventh position on the grid. His teammate Izan Guevara will start from further back, 27th. The Spanish has ended only twelve thousandths off entering directly to Q2 in the morning and in the qualifying session, with the increase of the track temperature, he has not been able to set a good lap time. Guevara expects to find more favourable conditions tomorrow and will try to finish as high as possible.

7th Jake Dixon 1:34.344: “Today has been a difficult day. Getting through Q1 is not ideal, but it has helped us to know which way we needed to go. In Q2 I have not been able to get a better time because I have made a mistake in the last sector. I think I could have started from the front row. If tomorrow we can improve the set-up of the bike a bit more, we can be the surprise.”

27th Izan Guevara 1:35.352: “We have just missed out to get directly into Q2. In the qualifying session I have not had a good feeling with the front of the bike and tomorrow we will start from the back. It will be difficult to move up, but with less temperature on the track we will have more chances. We'll try to progress and get a good result.”
