Dixon to close the second row in Qatar

The GASGAS Aspar Team rider will start from sixth place. His teammate Izan Guevara will try to move up from 24th

Joe Roberts will lead the front row of the Qatar GP grid. The American has taken pole position at the circuit where he achieved his maiden pole and he has done so by beating the track record that Celestino Vietti had set in Q1. The American has set a time of 1:57.305, just seven and twenty-eight thousandths faster than the laps of Celestino Vietti and Aron Canet, who complete the top 3. The Italian and the Spanish have moved Fermín Aldeguer out the front row. Despite being very strong during the weekend, Aldeguer has not been able to achieve his fourth pole position in a row and will start from fourth place.

GASGAS Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon will close the second row in the Qatar GP. The British has shown that he had the potential to start from a better position, but sixth on the grid means that he still has chances to get on the podium. The race will be a long one, so Dixon will have to manage tyre wear and move up as the laps go by. His teammate Izan Guevara will start from 24th. The Spanish rider had the speed to go straight into Q2, but a mistake in the last corner has left him just 0.069 away from his goal. Despite this, the current Moto3 World Champion has gone into Q1 with confidence and has improved his morning time riding alone. Guevara knows he has a good pace for tomorrow and he will try to fight for the points starting from the eighth row.

6th Jake Dixon 1:57.804: “I'm not completely happy, but I'm satisfied with the grid position we have achieved. Starting from the second row is not what we wanted, but it's not bad. I have not felt quite comfortable in qualifying, so we will try to analyse the data to find some improvements for tomorrow. The team is doing a good job and I think we can complete a great race.”

24th Izan Guevara 1:58.418: “We have had a good start of the day again, but we have missed the chance to go straight into Q2 because of a mistake in the last corner. I have gone into Q1 with a lot of confidence, I have decided to ride on my own and in the end I have finished three tenths off getting into Q2. Tomorrow will be a long race and we will try to move up to score points. I feel I have the speed and we will try until the end.”
