Dixon targets P3 in the standings before the summer break

The British rider heads into the Dutch Grand Prix three points off the third place. Izan Guevara continues his adaptation to the intermediate category

The Moto2 World Championship is ready for the last Grand Prix before the summer break. The intermediate category riders will compete this weekend at the Dutch GP, and will not race again until August, 6, when they will dispute the British GP. Tony Arbolino leads the standings, but has seen his advantage over Pedro Acosta reduce to 15 points after the Mugello and Sachsenring races, in which the Spanish has been first and the Italian has been second. They are both the main favourites to win the title in the category and have shared the podium in more than half of the races so far. This weekend could be a crucial turning point for one of them: if Acosta finishes ahead, he will have closed the gap to the Italian in these first three back-to-back races of the season. If, on the other hand, it is Arbolino who achieves a better result, he will have stopped his biggest rival and will go on holiday with a good advantage at the top of the standings.

The gap is smaller in the fight for third place, a top three that Inde GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon is aiming for. Three points separate the British and Alonso López, two of the most consistent riders this season, who will battle it out at Assen this weekend to see who will reach the summer break behind Acosta and Arbolino. Dixon has taken two consecutive podiums and comes back to a track where he also finished third last season. His Inde GASGAS Aspar teammate Izan Guevara returns to another circuit where he finished on the podium in 2022. The Spanish ended just three tenths off victory after leading 19 of the 22 laps in the race. Guevara couldn't finish the race in Germany, after making a step forward in terms of pace on Sunday, and will try to go into the summer holidyas with an even better feeling.

Jake Dixon: “In the last few races we've made a step forward and have been very consistent. We arrive to Assen with two podium finishes in a row and having improved at the start of the last race. I will keep aiming to fight for the front positions and to be able to do it with Acosta and Arbolino.”

Izan Guevara: “We will try to push from the first practice at Assen. We need to understand where the limits are with the front end, something that is not being easy.”
