GERMAN GP

Dixon starts off strong in Germany

The British rider finishes fifth the first day at Sachsenring. His teammate Izan Guevara closes the first practice sessions in 26th place

The Moto2 riders have had an opening day in Germany with practice sessions in wet and dry conditions. Pedro Acosta, who has arrived at Sachsenring with the aim of keeping closing the gap to Tony Arbolino in the overall standings, has been the only rider able to go under 1:24, setting the fastest time of the day in the morning. However, in the second session and in wet conditions, the fastest rider has been his rival Arbolino, although his time has not been enough to improve the eighth place in the combined standings. Behind Acosta, eleven riders have finished in less than a second, with Alonso Lopez, Manu Gonzalez, Filip Salac and Jake Dixon completing the top 5.

Polarcube GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has closed the first day at Sachsenring with positive feelings. The British, who has led part of the first and the second session of the day, has achieved his best time in the morning, when he has finished fifth. However, Dixon has had better feelings on the bike in the afternoon, when the track was wet. Dixon will keep working tomorrow to improve on the dry and be ready for the race, regardless of the track conditions. His teammate Izan Guevara has given his best in Germany, even though he is still not completely comfortable with the set-up of the bike. The Spanish rider has finished just over a second and a half off the fastest rider and will keep working with his team in order to make further progress tomorrow.

5th Jake Dixon 1:24.464 (+0.485): “It has been more difficult to run in the dry, but in the end, we have finished fifth. In the afternoon we have made some changes on the bike, but we haven't been able to evaluate them due to the rain. The second practice has been good, I have enjoyed the bike in wet conditions and we are prepared in case it rains. We'll see what tomorrow brings.”

26th Izan Guevara 1:25.734 (+1.755): “We are still looking for a bike set-up that makes me feel comfortable. We have tried to change a lot of things, but I haven't had the best feeling in the first practice. We have not been able to improve in the afternoon because of the rain. Tomorrow, we have another day to make further progress. We'll try to make things clear and push hard at a circuit I have great memories of.”
