Dixon starts his home GP close to the top 5

The British rider finishes the first practice sessions in sixth position. Izan Guevara improves his feeling on the Moto2 and ends twenty-first

After the summer break, the Moto2 World Championship has arrived at Silverstone to move into the decisive part of the Championship. In the return to action, Aron Canet has been the fastest rider after improving by more than a second the time with which Acosta had finished first in the morning session. The Spanish rider, second in the overall standings, has ended fourth, while his main title rival, Tony Arbolino, has finished fifteenth, out of the provisional Q2 positions. The Italian will keep an eye on tomorrow's rain, which could complicate his direct access to Q2. Today, the top 3 places have been completed by Alonso López, who finished on the podium last year at the British Grand Prix, and Fermín Aldeguer, who has ended 0.137 off Canet's lap.

The Tensite GASGAS Aspar Team has started the British Grand Prix with notable results, but still with margin for improvement on the English track. Jake Dixon, local hero at Silverstone, has completed the first day in sixth position, just six thousandths of a second off the top 5. Despite not having had the best feelings, the British rider is confident that he will be able to improve tomorrow and bring some joy to the fans. His teammate Izan Guevara has finished the first practice session with his best result so far, thirteenth, in the places that give provisional access to Q2. However, in the afternoon the lap times have been fastest and, when he was improving his time with new tyres, he has suffered an incident that has prevented him from his goal. The Tensite GASGAS Aspar rider has showed that he has come back stronger from his holidays and hopes to continue improving to be well prepared for Sunday's race.

6th Jake Dixon 2:05.114 (+0.757): “It has not been an easy day, but I'm happy to be back from holiday. The first practice has been a bit frustrating because I have been held up on my best lap. In the afternoon, we have not had good grip, neither with the new tyre nor with the used one. We have to analyse what has happened and find solutions because I have never worked so hard on the bike to be seven tenths off the best time. We'll see what we can do tomorrow.”

21st Izan Guevara 2:06.167 (+1.810): “Despite the crash at the end of the second session, it has been a positive day. I have tried to improve my morning time with the new tyre, but it hasn't been possible. In the morning we have finished thirteenth and I have had a good feeling. We have come back prepared from the holidays and we have shown it. It has been frustrating to crash, but that's what happens when you push yourself to the limit. It will probably rain tomorrow, so it will be difficult to improve the lap times. We'll keep pushing and we hope to be well prepared for Sunday and have a good race.”
