Dixon's dream keeps on

Asterius GASGAS Aspar rider closes a perfect weekend with his second victory of the season. GASGAS Aspar Team has achieved its first double victory in a weekend since the 2008 Malaysian Grand Prix, where Gábor Talmacsi (125cc) and Álvaro Bautista (250cc) won

Asterius GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has taken his second Moto2 victory in Barcelona today. The British knew that he had a great opportunity starting from pole position and has made the most of it. Dixon, who had already been the fastest of the weekend, has had to fight hard to take the win. Dixon has arrived to the final laps leading the race and, after a tough battle with Aron Canet, he has crossed the finish line with a gap of just two tenths over the Spanish. Jake Dixon has completed an incredible double for the GASGAS Aspar Team in Barcelona after David Alonso's victory in Moto3. It is the team's first double victory since October 2008, when Gábor Talmacsi (125cc) and Álvaro Bautista (250cc) won in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Albert Arenas has completed the top 3 with his first podium finish in the category. For his part, Acosta has ended up sixth after fighting for the victory. The Spanish rider has had a small incident with Alonso López on the last lap and has lost some positions. The Championship leader now has an advantage of 22 points over Tony Arbolino and 44 points over Jake Dixon, who has managed to reduce the gap by 15 points in Barcelona.

His Asterius GASGAS Aspar teammate, Izan Guevara, has finished the Catalan Grand Prix in 25th position. The Spanish rider has had a race in which he has gone improving lap by lap, but on the last one, when he had moved up positions, he has not been able to stop the bike and has ended up in the gravel. Guevara leaves Barcelona with the feeling that he has improved in today's race and will come back stronger in San Marino next week.

Winner Jake Dixon: “Today's win is incredible. The team has done a great job with the set-up of the bike. The other riders were going really fast, so I have taken my time.  On the last lap I was on the limit, but in the end we have done it. I want to thank everyone. This is the result of all the hard work we are doing. We already have two victories and we will go for more.”

25th Izan Guevara (+52.086): “It has not been a great race. I have gone out the line at the first corner and I have lost a lot of positions. From then on, I have focused on improving my pace and speed and I have done some good lap times. I have made another mistake at the end and I have gone into the gravel. Nevertheless, I have to be happy with our progress.”
