Dixon's crash prevents him from fighting for pole position

The British rider has crashed when he was improving his best lap time and will start his home Grand Prix eleventh. Guevara has got his best grid position after being close to Q2

Pedro Acosta is still on full throttle and has taken his second pole position of the season at Silverstone. The Spanish rider continues his persecution on Tony Arbolino and tomorrow he will try to take the overall standings lead from the first position on the grid. The Spanish has achieved the pole position with authority, setting a time of 2:16.953, seven tenths faster than Fermín Aldeguer and Zonta Van Den Goorbergh, who complete the front row. Aldeguer has shown again his strong performance on the Silverstone track. The Spanish finished third in the practice sessions yesterday and today he has been close to the first position in the qualifying. On the other hand, Van Den Goorbergh, who had to go through Q1, will start third, the best grid position of his career. The World Championship leader, Tony Arbolino, has saved a day that seemed difficult for him. The Italian has taken part in Q1, a session in which he has been the fastest despite suffering a crash. In the Q2, Arbolino has finished almost a second off Acosta's time and will start tomorrow's race from fourth place.

Tensite GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon will start his home Grand Prix from eleventh position. The British rider had gone into the qualifying session with a lot of confidence after leading the third practice session, but he has crashed at the wrong moment. Dixon was riding very fast in Q2 and has led the session on several occasions. However, he has gone to the ground when he was setting his best lap and has not been able to return to the track. His time of 2:18.975 means that he will start from the fourth row of the grid in tomorrow's race. His Tensite GASGAS Aspar teammate, Izan Guevara, has achieved his best grid position in Moto2 today. The Spanish rider has ended fourth in the last practice and has faced Q1 with good feelings. In qualifying he has missed the chance to fight for a better position in Q2 by eight tenths of a second and will have to come back from twentieth place. The current Moto3 World Champion finishes the second day at Silverstone with a good feeling and will try to score his first points of the season tomorrow.

11th Jake Dixon 2:18.975: “Honestly, I didn't expect this. I thought I was out of the corner and away from problems. In these conditions it's tricky. Tomorrow we'll go again and try to give it a bit more. I need to reset myself tonight and tomorrow we'll go for it.”

20th Izan Guevara 2:20.023: “I have faced the qualifying with a lot of confidence after the good feeling I have had in the morning. The track conditions were very difficult, but I have felt comfortable and we have finished fourth. In the qualifying there was less water and we haven't found the right setting for the bike. The overall feeling has been good, it has been a pity not to go through to Q2, because I think we were ready for it. Tomorrow we'll start twentieth and we'll try to move up positions.”
