The GASGAS Aspar Team rider has fought until the last moment for fourth position in Qatar
Fermín Aldeguer has won the Qatar GP after imposing his pace and crossing the finish line with a gap of more than two seconds over his pursuers. With this victory, the Spanish rider has taken his third win in a row, although this one has not been as comfortable as the previous ones. Aldeguer started from fourth on the grid and on the second lap he was in ninth position. Little by little, the Spanish has come back to take the lead with ten laps to go. From that moment, Aldeguer has started to open distance over Manu González and Aron Canet, who have had a nice battle for second place that has ended up with Gonzalez taking it by only nine thousandths, and has achieved a victory that leaves him only 7 points off third place in the overall standings.
GASGAS Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon has finished fifth in the Qatar GP, a result that allows him to remain third in the overall standings, although he now has an advantage of just seven points over the strongest rider on the grid, Fermín Aldeguer. The British has made a great start, gaining two positions in the first corners and moving into podium places on the third lap. In the final part of the race, Dixon has moved down to fourth, a position that he has not been able to defend on the last lap. His teammate Izan Guevara has closed the weekend with a 23rd position. The Spanish rider has not been able to show the speed he had during practice and qualifying sessions and has ended up out of the points. Next week, Guevara will close the season in Valencia, where he won last year's Moto3 race.
5th Jake Dixon (+4.645): “I was expecting a better result. I have tried to remain in fourth position until the last lap, but it has not been possible. I want to get back on the podium and we'll try again in Valencia.”
23rd Izan Guevara (+30.571): “We had a lot of speed during the weekend, but today has been difficult. I have not felt comfortable with the bike and I couldn't ride the way I like.”
