Dixon opens the Spanish GP in top 5

The British rider has set the fifth fastest time of the session, with Izan Guevara 23rd

The high temperatures have been an important factor during the first day of action for the Moto2 riders. The 48 degrees of ground temperature and the wind have complicated the work of the intermediate category teams and riders. The day has started with good conditions, but in the second practice session the temperature has increased and has changed the track conditions. The best lap times have been recorded in the morning session, in which Sam Lowes has been fastest, with a time of 1:41.170, a time that has allowed him to finish the day in the first position. Despite finishing the second practice session in sixth and seventh place, Somkiat Chantra and Alonso López have joined the British rider in the top three positions thanks to the times they set in the morning session.

Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has opened the Spanish Grand Prix in the top five. The British has worked with Sunday's race in his mind and has tried to find good feelings with the bike. Dixon is satisfied with today’s work and hopes to continue on this way to fight for the front rows of the grid in tomorrow's race. His teammate Izan Guevara has completed his first day in Jerez with positive sensations. The Spanish has set a time of 1:43.186 and has felt comfortable both with the bike and physically. Guevara hopes to continue improving his feeling to get closer to the fastest riders this weekend.

5th Jake Dixon 1:41.634 (+0.464): “It has been a difficult first day. We finished fifth in the morning and twelfth in the afternoon without putting on new tyres. We have worked to find good sensations with the bike in these hot conditions. In the last start I think we have found the path we should follow tomorrow and that is positive. We'll see what tomorrow holds for us."

23rd Izan Guevara 1:43.186 (+2.016): “The first day has been positive. The first practice session has gone very well, the feeling has been good and I think we have made a big step forward, physically and with the bike. The weather wasn't bad, but in the afternoon the wind and the hot weather increased and it was difficult to improve the times. It was a good first day and we're ready to get a good lap tomorrow.”
