The Tensite GASGAS Aspar rider is third in the World Championship after winning in Assen and arrives at Silverstone with his 2022 third place in memory
Eight races done, eight points difference for the leader. The Moto2 category is the most even in the championship and its riders face, starting this weekend, the second half of a year in which both Tony Arbolino and Pedro Acosta want to end up reigning. The Spaniard has only competed in the British Grand Prix in his debut year in the World Championship, back in 2021, but he will try anyway to continue closing the gap with Arbolino, who finished twelfth in Silverstone last year. Of course, they’ll need permission of constant and regular riders like Jake Dixon or Alonso López, third and fourth in the championship standings, also separated by eight points. These two are the only two riders in the category who have been able to get on the podium there in Moto2, something that both achieved last year.
Jake Dixon comes back home this weekend looking for glory. He ended the first half of the championship with his best run of results ever, three consecutive podiums. It was something he had already achieved last year between Assen and Austria, although on that occasion it was three third positions. Now, with the victory in Assen, Tensite GASGAS Aspar rider enters the second half of the season with renewed strength and with 104 points, already close to his maximum in the championship (168.5 from last year) when he still has twelve races ahead of him in the to keep fighting for everything. He already has four podiums in eight starts (it was six podiums in 20 races last year) and he has some grand prix tracks ahead of him in which he completed great performances last year. The final goal is to be able to fight with Arbolino and Acosta, although for this he needs, in addition, some mistakes from the leaders. Teammate Izan Guevara has twelve new opportunities to continue improving his adaptation to the category and gradually enter the fight for points and higher goals.
Jake Dixon: “We closed the first half of the year on a high, with a win at Assen, and now that we're racing at home the goal has to be the same. I feel strong and this weekend we are going to fight for the front positions. The objective has to be to continue getting more podiums and to opt for victory, to reach the final part of the season with a chance to be in front.”
Izan Guevara: “We finish the holidays, which have been good for us to continue preparing for this second part of the season. I want to get to Silverstone and be able to do well. I want to fight for the points and continue to achieve our goals.”
