Dixon just 0.010 off top 3

The British rider ends the first day in Austria in fourth position. His teammate Izan Guevara has his best Friday of the year and finishes in provisional Q2 positions

Moto2 World Championship leader, Pedro Acosta, keeps up in a strong shape and has dominated the Friday practice for the sixth time this season. In the second practice, the Spanish rider has improved the time set by Somkiat Chantra in the morning. Acosta has ended just one tenth off the track record and is once again one of the favourites to take the win in Sunday's race. Chantra, who has not been able to improve his time in the afternoon, and his teammate Ai Ogura, who already took pole position and the win last year at the Austrian Grand Prix, have completed the top 3. Tensite GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has finished just ten thousandths off the top three, while Tony Arbolino has closed the day 35 thousands behind and will try not to let Pedro Acosta get away from him in the overall standings.

Jake Dixon has started the Austrian Grand Prix among the best in a positive day for the Tensite GASGAS Aspar riders. The British has stopped the clock just three tenths off the best time of the day and knows that he still has room for improvement to go further up. Dixon has arrived strong to Austria and will be looking to get a better set-up of the bike to fight for everything this weekend. Dixon has improved his morning time by more than half a second and, despite the increase of the track temperature in the second practice, he has been able to finish the day in fourth position. His teammate, Izan Guevara, has closed his best Friday of the year with a thirteenth position that puts him in provisional Q2 positions for the first time this season. Guevara has once again shown that he is on an upward trend and keeps improving his feeling on the Moto2. The Spanish rider has ended up just one second off the best time of the day and tomorrow he expects to find better conditions on the track to get a better laptime and go straight into the second qualifying session.

4th Jake Dixon 1:34.913 (+0.324): “I have made some mistakes which prevented me from finishing higher. I have struggled a bit with the front of the bike. We need to improve the set-up to be more consistent. We'll see what we can do tomorrow.”

13th Izan Guevara 1:35.219 (+1.169): “This track is not one of my favourites, but it's going better than we expected so far. This morning I have been riding alone, I have had a great feeling and I have finished just one second off the best time. In the afternoon I have felt comfortable, but I haven't been able to set a better time. I'm happy with today and tomorrow we will try to stay in the Q2 positions.”
