CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider finishes fifth overall as Saturday's times were much faster. Izan Guevara completes 17 laps and looks forward to the next test
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon was fastest on the second day of testing in Portimao, a day in which the mixed track conditions caused that only nine riders continued their preseason today. Fastest of all of them has been the British rider, with a time of 1:44.998 which, however, does not allow him to lead the general standings of the test. The good conditions of the Portuguese circuit in the final part of yesterday's session allowed up to eighteen riders to achieve a better time than the CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider was able to get today.
Dixon was fifth on that first day of testing after being almost three months away from his bike. Yesterday's time, 1:43.742, left him almost a second off the leader of the tests, the Spanish Manuel González. The British rider feels that he is heading in the right direction and will continue working this coming week to arrive ready for Qatar. His teammate Izan Guevara has not taken part in the second day of testing to avoid risks with the track conditions. Yesterday, Guevara set a best time of 1:45.850 after completing almost twenty laps to the Portuguese track. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider already has his sights set on the next preseason test, which will take place at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit, from Wednesday, February 28 to Friday, March 1.
5th Jake Dixon 1:43.742 (+0.945, 71 laps): “We have given our maximum every day, we have tested even in rainy conditions, to understand the new suspensions well. We have a plan for Jerez, because we still have work ahead of us, it is inevitable. The team has done a good job, and we are heading in the right direction. The weather has not been the best, but it has been the same for everyone. It has been two days of complicated conditions, it is frustrating at times, but I am happy to have gotten back on the bike and I know that step by step we are going to reach our goal.”
24th Izan Guevara 1:45.850 (+3,053, 17 laps): “We have done our first test of the year, but it has not been as we expected since, especially due to the weather and track conditions, we have not been able to complete more than 17 laps. Today, the track was wet for almost the entire day, and we did not want to take risks since we have three more days of testing in Jerez. There, we will start our preseason.”
