Dixon dances in the rain to take his second pole position

The Inde GASGAS Aspar rider fights against the difficult qualifying conditions and makes up the distance with the fastest time in the final sector of the Indian track

Inde GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has achieved at the Buddh International Circuit a meritorious pole position, his second of the season. The British has fought until the end against Pedro Acosta and Sergio Garcia for the first position of the grid and has finally taken it on the last lap, in the last sector. Dixon has adapted perfectly to a track that was in a better condition than in the Moto3 qualifying session, but was still wet. In the morning he had suffered a heavy crash in the last practice, but in the afternoon the weather has changed and with a track in tricky conditions, he has been the smartest of the riders on a day in which most of the them have suffered. Dixon and his technical team will work on a good strategy to fight for the win in tomorrow's race, regardless of the weather.

His teammate Izan Guevara will start the Indian Grand Prix from 26th place. The Spanish rider has participated in Q1 after being only 0.075 off going directly into the second qualifying session. Guevara had shown throughout the weekend that he had the pace to fight for the points, but the difficult track conditions have frustrated his plans. Nevertheless, the Spanish knows that if he keeps working in this line, he will be able to fight for the points in tomorrow's race.

Pole Jake Dixon 2:01.924: “We have been riding in the dry during the weekend and the qualifying has been in the wet. I have had a crash this morning, but luckily the conditions have changed in the afternoon and I have been able to get the pole position. We need to recover and see what we can do if the race is in the dry.”

26th Izan Guevara 2:05.015: “We had been doing a great job this weekend, but the rain has complicated everything. I think we had the level to fight for the top 10. We'll start further back than we'd like, but we have a good pace and we'll give it our all.”
