The British was again one of the fastest riders and will start the race from P3. Izan Guevara continues gaining experience on the Moto2 and will do so from 26th
British rider Sam Lowes has taken the Moto2 pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix after setting a time just a tenth off the track record set by Aron Canet this morning. Lowes has stopped the clock at 1:40.750, five tenths quicker than Pedro Acosta and Jake Dixon, who complete the front row of the grid. The British rider, who dominated yesterday's practice sessions, will be looking to take victory two years after his last win. World Championship leader Tony Arbolino has had a difficult day and will start the race from tenth position. The Italian will have to come from behind to prevent his direct rivals from overtaking him in the overall standings. Aron Canet will start from further back, despite having set the track record in the morning, the Spanish was not able to make the most of his speed in the qualifying session and will start twelfth.
Autosolar GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon came to Jerez looking to recover from the Americas Grand Prix and today he has got a meritorious third place on the grid. The British rider, who has not been on the front row since last year at Motegi, is satisfied with his work and will try to take advantage of his starting position to fight for the front positions. His teammate Izan Guevara has completed his second day in Jerez with good feelings. The Spanish rider is still in the process of adapting to the new bike and tomorrow will start from 26th position. Guevara continues improving little by little and tomorrow he will try to complete a good race to gain more confidence.
3rd Jake Dixon 1:41.330 (+0.580): “After yesterday I wasn't expecting this day. We improved the set-up of the bike this morning and I felt much more comfortable. In the last practice session, I didn't put a second tyre on and our real pace didn't show. Then in the qualifying we were faster even though the temperature was hotter. I had some problems on the front, but the pace was good. I'm happy and we'll see what happens tomorrow. As long as I give everything on the track, I'll be satisfied.”
26th Izan Guevara 1:42.953: “We have completed the second day with similar feelings as the once I have yesterday. We are still in the process of gaining positions and adapting to the bike. I still have a lot of things to understand, but I feel better every day and we will keep trying. The pace in the qualifying was not bad, but we still need to get a good lap time.”
