The British has set the fifth fastest time on a day marked by the official debut of Izan Guevara in Moto2
Moto2 riders have enjoyed a first day of practice sessions in mixed conditions, with Pedro Acosta as the fastest of the day. In the morning they have been able to ride in the dry, while in the afternoon the rain has spoiled the teams' plans. Pedro Acosta has imposed his speed to become the only rider who has lapped the Circuit of the Americas under 2.09. The Spanish has set his best time on his last lap, as has done the World Championship leader Tony Arbolino, who has finished two tenths of a second behind Acosta. The top 3 has been completed by the second in the overall standings, Aron Canet.
Asterius GASGAS Aspar rider Jake Dixon has once again shown that he is in great shape after setting the fifth fastest time of the day. The British, who has led the morning session, has felt very comfortable on the bike and has ended the day four tenths of a second off the best time. Although he could have improved his time on the last lap, Dixon is confident to get a good grid position tomorrow. Izan Guevara has completed his first practice sessions as a Moto2 rider after overcoming his right forearm injury. The Spanish rider has returned in one of the most challenging tracks of the championship and has felt comfortable physically. Guevara will keep working tomorrow to continue his adaptation to the new bike.
5th Jake Dixon 2:10.343 (+0.487): “The first practice session has been very positive, but the second one has not been the same because it was raining. In the end I couldn't complete a clean lap, I had a few problems with the bike because it kept going into neutral. On the last lap I lost four tenths in the first corner and that prevented me from finishing first or second. We will try to solve the situation tomorrow.”
27th Izan Guevara 2:13.103 (+3.247): “I have good feelings in my forearm and wrist on this first day. Little by little we are improving with the bike, after all we have missed two races. We will try to continue completing laps and improving every time we go out on track. For me, this Grand Prix is like a preseason.”
