The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider will start the race in second position, his best result in a qualifying session, while Dani Holgado will start from fifth
David Alonso has achieved his best result in a qualifying session since his Moto2 debut, just seven days after securing third place on the grid at the Japanese Grand Prix, and will start from the front row for the second consecutive weekend. The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider was just one tenth off his first pole position and will start the Indonesian Grand Prix race from second place, behind Diogo Moreira. The Brazilian secured his fifth pole of the year in the final moments of practice. They will be joined by Izan Guevara who, like Alonso, also achieved today his best result on a Saturday since competing in Moto2. Dani Holgado also fought for the top 3 until the end and will finally start the race from fifth position.
CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar continues in top form in Indonesia. David Alonso and Dani Holgado started this second day with their homework done and Q2 secured. The rookies continue to work hard to get to Sunday's race in the best possible shape, and they proved it in this morning's free practice, where Alonso was the second fastest rider and Holgado was fifth. In the afternoon, both riders took part in the qualifying convinced they could achieve a great result. Alonso set the benchmark time in the early minutes and dreamed of pole position until the very last moments. The Colombian, who for the first time broke the 1:33 barrier this weekend on his first lap in qualifying, did not give up and tried to hold on to his position until the very end, but with a time of 1:32.499 he was just one tenth off pole. Alonso thus achieved his best result in a qualifying session and will start the race from the front row for the second consecutive time. On the other hand, Dani Holgado has once again proven that he is one of the most consistent riders in the category. The rookie also reached the provisional front row spots alongside his teammate and maintained a great pace throughout the day. With a time of 1:32.671, his best in Indonesia, the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider will start from fifth.
2nd David Alonso 1:32.499 (+0.158): “I'm in a good place to fight for the front in the race. All the riders are aiming for the track record in qualifying, and in these situations it's very difficult to achieve a good position because everyone is riding very fast. I need a slightly better pace when riding alone, but I'll try to repeat what I did today for ten laps because it will help me have a good race.”
5th Dani Holgado 1:32.671 (+0.330): “We finished the second day in Indonesia feeling very good. In this morning's race simulation, I had very good pace and set my fastest time on the twelfth lap. I am very happy with both my work and that of the team. I am starting from fifth, which is a good position to fight for a good result. We have another opportunity to continue growing, and we will try to take advantage of it to gain as much experience as possible, have a good race and enjoy it.”
