Izan Guevara has finished fifteenth on the first day at Mugello, while Jake Dixon has been twenty-fifth
Somkiat Chantra has topped the time sheets on the first day of practice at Mugello. The Thai has been very strong throughout the day. In the morning, he has finished second, 69 thousandths off Fermín Aldeguer's time and, in the afternoon, he has been the fastest rider, setting a time of 1:50.841. Once again, in Moto2 the differences are minimal and the first four have finished in less than a tenth. Among them has not been the World Championship leader, Sergio García, who could only be eighth, more than two tenths off, on a day in which his immediate pursuer, the American Joe Roberts, has finished second, eleven thousandths off Chantra’s time.
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team has started the Italian GP with Jake Dixon and Izan Guevara in the top five in the first session of the day, a result they have been unable to replicate in the afternoon. Izan Guevara has been really competitive in the first practice and has finished fifth, just half a second off the best time. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has dedicated the afternoon session to work alone and, although the sensations have been positive, he has ended fifteenth. The Spanish is confident for tomorrow, a day in which he will have to take a step forward to be able to directly enter Q2. His teammate Jake Dixon had finished fourth in the first practice, but the second session has not been easy for him. The British has not felt comfortable on the bike, he has been unable to improve his time and has been twenty-fifth, more than a second off the best time. Despite the difficulties, Dixon does not give up and will work to regain the good feelings that will allow him to fight for the front positions again.
15th Izan Guevara 1:51.558 (+0.717): “It has been a positive first day in Mugello. In the first session, the conditions have not been easy because there were some patches of water on the track, but we have been able to adapt well. In the second, I have focused on working on my own and I have set my best time alone, something that was complicated due to the wind. I am really close to the positions that give direct access to Q2. We are only seven tenths off from the best time, riding without references on a very long track with many fast corners. Tomorrow we will be smarter and we will try to get a good lap to enter Q2.”
25th Jake Dixon 1:52.611 (+1.770): “Tonight we will work to try to take a step forward tomorrow, because today has not been very positive and we have to understand why. This morning, we found a problem and although we have been able to solve it in the afternoon, we still have to work to find the right direction.”
