Jake Dixon will fight to return to the podium in Mandalika after two races without a top 3
Next stop: Indonesia. After the first fourteen GPs of the season, the Moto2 World Championship heads to Asia and Oceania for the next five rounds, before the curtain falls with the Valencian GP in November. There are still two months to go before that and in the intermediate category everything is still to be decided. Although Sergio García has led for most of the season, he has only scored six points in the last four races, which has allowed his main rival Ai Ogura to overtake him in the standings. After the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the Japanese has a 22-point advantage over García and with 150 points at stake, anything can happen. The championship is also very tight behind, as there is less than 60 points until the seventh, CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon.
Dixon arrives at the Indonesian GP with his mind set on returning to the podium after two races outside the top 3. In the last visit to Mandalika, the British put in a great performance and, after a pretty competitive end to the race, he crossed the finish line just outside the podium positions, in fourth. Mandalika is a track that Dixon likes and this weekend he will fight to improve on last year's result. His teammate Izan Guevara travels to Indonesia with his batteries charged after achieving a good result in the last race in Misano. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider faces the oversea races with the motivation to continue learning and improving in Moto2. The Spanish did not have an easy weekend last season in Indonesia and could only finish twenty-first. However, he has great memories of his time in Moto3, when he finished second. Now, he is confident of being competitive throughout the GP and of scoring points again.
Jake Dixon: “I am really looking forward to Indonesia, I have been really fast there. I feel like we can do something really good there. I love all the oversea tracks. If we have been fast on tracks where I struggle, imagine what we can do next weeks.”
Izan Guevara: “Last year, on the flyaway races we achieved very good results and this year we want to do even better. We are capable of being at the front, but we have to keep working and get a good set-up. It will be very hot in Indonesia. We will try to be well prepared to give our best in all conditions.”
