CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team continues to make progress in Argentina

Dani Holgado made it through to Q2 despite changing conditions

The Moto2 World Championship is back in Termas de Rio Hondo two years later and the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders started the weekend with a good feeling. The current leader of the intermediate category, Manu González, was once again the fastest rider on Friday, although only a few thousandths ahead of Toni Arbolino in second place. Jake Dixon completes the top 3 of the day, almost three tenths of a second off the benchmark time. Dani Holgado faced a difficult day due to the track conditions, very different in both sessions. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider was able to adapt quickly to these changes and fought for a place in the top fourteen. In the final minutes of the practice session Holgado was just a few thousandths of a second away from getting in and fought with other riders to get back into the Q2 places. With just a minute to go, the session was stopped due to the crash of another rider. At that moment, the Spanish rider was in fourteenth position, certifying his direct pass to Q2 and thus fulfilling one of his objectives for the season.

David Alonso has made a leap forward compared to the opening round in Thailand. The reigning Moto3 World Champion has gone from strength to strength and continues to consolidate his progress in the intermediate category. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider was close to the top 10 in the morning session and continued to improve his lap time in the afternoon. Alonso continues to make steady steps in his adaptation to the Moto2 category and continues to improve his riding. With a time of 1:43.032, the Colombian rider was three tenths of a second away from a direct pass to Q2, in 19th place. Tomorrow he will be hoping to make a step forward to get a good position on the starting grid.

14th Dani Holgado 1:42.691 (+0.978): “We got the direct pass to Q2 in the second Grand Prix. I am very happy because it was one of our goals for this year and we have already achieved it. The day was a bit strange because of the track conditions. The first session had nothing to do with the second one, and that made it a bit difficult for us because we missed a few more laps in the dry. Tomorrow morning we will focus on doing a race simulation to understand the bike and what we need to improve further. I'm very happy with today's work, thanks to the team, more and better tomorrow!”

19th David Alonso 1:43.032 (+1.319): “This circuit is very different with the Moto2, it's more fun and the style is totally opposite to Thailand, you are on the throttle at almost every corner. I'm concentrating on braking and doing it in a way that comes naturally to me. It was a good day, more solid than Friday in Thailand, but we still have some way to go. We have to find a way to get a little bit lower at the end to find the way tomorrow.”
