The CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider will start ninth in a race in which his teammate Jake Dixon will not be able to compete due to injury
Izan Guevara has completed his best Saturday since he started competing in the Moto2 category by achieving his first top 10 on the grid. Guevara had been fourteenth in the morning, with a lap of 1:57.962 that he achieved before entering the final phase of the session and which allowed him to qualify directly for Q2. In the afternoon, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider continued to improve and reached fourth position, but he was unable to lower his time in the final minutes of the session and was overtaken by several other rivals, finishing ninth.
9th Izan Guevara 1:57.463 (+0.675): “I am happy because I have achieved a third-row position, my best classification in Moto2. On my first outing I have felt very good, but on the second I couldn't push any harder. We are six tenths off the first and my pace is quite good. Tomorrow we will have to make a good start to try to fight with the front group.”
British rider Jake Dixon suffered a hard crash in the last Qatar GP practice, in what was his second flying lap of the session. After the strong blow when he was riding at 154 km/h, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider was taken to the circuit's medical centre, where medical checks ruled out any fractures. Dixon was subsequently transferred to Hamad General Hospital to continue undergoing tests that again ruled out fractures but, due to the to the trauma sustained in his crash, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider has been declared unfit to compete tomorrow.
Nico Terol, CFMOTO Inde Aspar sports director: “The important thing today is that Jake Dixon is OK after the crash. We want to thank the circuit and the championship’s medical teams for how they have been always taking care of him.”
