Jake Dixon and Izan Guevara are back from a three-week break with the aim of improving further in Mugello
The Moto2 riders close a three-week break and face three consecutive races in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands this month. The first of them comes this weekend in Italy, home of the leader in the overall standings, Tony Arbolino. There, Pedro Acosta took his first victory in the intermediate category last year, in his debut season. This weekend, Arbolino will try to avoid a repeat of the same story in order to consolidate himself as the best in the category. The Italian rider is 25 points ahead of the Spanish, who was unable to finish the race in France, and will be looking to take advantage of his home GP to take what would be his third victory of the season.
Autosolar GASGAS Aspar will be looking to keep improving in Italy. Jake Dixon heads into a new round of the World Championship from sixth position in the overall standings, the same place he finished in the Italian Grand Prix last year. The British rider has shown great consistency this season, finishing in the top six every time he has started the race. However, in Mugello he will try to return to the podium, a place he has not been to since the Argentina GP. His teammate Izan Guevara returns to a circuit that brings back good memories. The Spanish crossed the finish line in first place in 2022, but a penalty for exceeding the track limits in the last lap relegated him to second position. A year later, Guevara arrives to Italy as the current Moto3 World Champion riding in the intermediate category, a challenge that he is facing with the team that has seen him shine and with which he aspires to enjoy further success. The Spanish rider has been working hard during these weeks to keep improving and to score his first points of the championship.
Jake Dixon: “It's been a three-week break, but it's been intense at the same time. We have been preparing for these three races in a row. It's going to be an intense month, with no time to rest, at very different tracks. We will have to give our best to keep fighting for the front positions and get to the summer break in a good position and with our job done.”
Izan Guevara: “I'm looking forward to come back on track after this break. I have been preparing for Mugello and I feel strong. I hope to make a step forward compared to the previous races. Last year we won in Moto3, but a penalty relegated us to second place. I like Mugello, although it is not one of my favourite circuits. I think we can do a great job during the weekend and we will see if we end up satisfied and with a good result.”
