Argentina, next stop for Jake Dixon and Jordi Torres

Termas de Río Hondo hosts second race of the season for Solunion GASGAS Aspar Team riders

The Portuguese Grand Prix kicked off the new Moto2 season last week and the intermediate category riders are ready now for their second Grand Prix of the year. Pedro Acosta arrives to Argentina leading the standings after being first during almost the whole race in Portugal, denying Aron Canet any chance of fighting for the win. Acosta's start of the season contrasts with his 2022 beginning, when he had to wait until the eighth race to take his first win. In 2023, the Spanish rider has dominated the pre-season tests and the first race, and will be aiming high at a circuit where, in his first experience, he finished seventh.

The Solunion GASGAS Aspar Team is optimistic before the second race of the season. Jake Dixon was one of the fastest riders in Portimao and comes now to Argentina with the podium as his main goal. The British rider, who made a great comeback at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, will try to improve his grid position on Saturday and, from there, he’ll aim to fight for the podium. The team is still missing the current Moto3 World Champion, Izan Guevara, who is recovering at home after undergoing surgery on his right forearm last Thursday. In Argentina, Openbank Aspar Team rider Jordi Torres will be again his substitute. The Spanish rider will return to Termas de Río Hondo nine years after his last race there and will try to take advantage of the opportunity to continue his preparation for his MotoE World Championship season, which will start on May 13th at the French Grand Prix.

Jake Dixon: "I like the Argentina circuit. I'm sure it will be a completely different weekend to Portugal, where we had been riding already for six days and everyone was going fast at the end. I hope we can get a good grid position because it will give us more chances to fight for the podium.”

Jordi Torres: "I'm really looking forward to Argentina, a circuit where I haven't raced since 2014. We will keep working, learning and trying to help the team as much as possible. We will enjoy a great weekend.”
