The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider finished second in the Australian Grand Prix, while his teammate Dani Holgado came fourth
The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team passed the Australian Grand Prix with flying colours. David Alonso achieved his third Moto2 podium finish by coming second, while Dani Holgado finished fourth after climbing up from ninth place. Both riders completed a solid race in which local rider Senna Agius was the winner in the intermediate category. Brazilian Diogo Moreira completed the podium and is now just two points behind leader Manu González, who finished seventh.
The Moto2 race at Phillip Island was one of the most physically demanding of the 2025 season. Strong gusts of wind made riding difficult from start to finish, but the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar riders managed the 23 laps very well. David Alonso made a great start, climbing up to the podium spots. There were several position changes in the leading group in the early laps, but the Colombian managed his energy well to remain in contention for the top three until the final laps. The rookie in the intermediate category showed his best form and overtook the world championship leader with six laps to go to take second place, securing his third Moto2 podium. On the other hand, Dani Holgado also faced a very challenging race. The Spaniard lost a few places in the early laps and fell back to ninth position. After the halfway point of the race, the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider improved his feeling and was able to increase his pace to regain positions. Not satisfied with fifth place, the rookie continued to push on the last lap to overtake one last rival and cross the finish line in fourth place.
2nd David Alonso (+3.684): “Today I went into the race without expecting anything in return. I wanted to do things right, without looking for a specific result. I had the best start of the season, I felt the clutch when I pulled away, and that helped me a lot to get into position. I really enjoyed being at the front, but it was the most physical race of all. My arm and leg were hurting, so I stayed with the group to save energy. I had to manage it well, but in the end I gave it my all because there was no way to get any more out of it to get on the podium.”
4th Dani Holgado (+4.440): “We finished the Australian Grand Prix with an incredible race. I'm super happy with how I managed it because at the beginning I was pushing the limit and I was struggling to keep up with the group. I learned a lot from the other riders, what lines to follow, and I was able to apply that in the race. In the last few laps, I felt quite comfortable with the worn tyres. I'm very happy with how the whole weekend went. Step by step, I improved every day, and I can only thank the team. We're looking forward to the Malaysian Grand Prix with great enthusiasm.”
