Alonso fights and scores in the French Grand Prix

The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider finished eleventh at Le Mans. Sixteenth place for Holgado

The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders faced a difficult but full of learning race at the French Grand Prix, where the threat of rain and the conditions marked the development of the event. David Alonso and Dani Holgado needed to come back to continue scoring points in the standings. However, Alonso was the only one to do so, finishing eleventh, while Holgado was sixteenth. Manu González took his third win of the season to extend his lead in the overall standings. Barry Baltus was second and Aron Canet completed the podium at Le Mans. Jake Dixon, third in the World Championship standings, was fifth.

David Alonso started the race from the fourth row of the grid. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider made a good start to stay in the group. Alonso, who had to serve a penalty for the incident at the Spanish Grand Prix, felt more and more comfortable and was able to increase his pace as the laps went by. The reigning Moto3 World Champion was very consistent in the final stretch of the race, overtaking several rivals and trying to reach the top 10, although he crossed the line in eleventh. Dani Holgado, on the other hand, had a big disadvantage starting from the seventh row of the grid. The Spaniard was able to overtake some riders after the first few laps, concentrating on getting into the points. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider managed the difficult situation in the best possible way to finish sixteenth. Despite not scoring on this occasion, Holgado leaves France with a lot of learning behind him and remains the best rookie in Moto2 with a lead of almost 20 points ahead of the second.

11th David Alonso (+15.758): “We knew we had a penalty to serve and we approached the race with that in mind. We improved at the start, which was one of the things we had to do: make a good first lap. After serving the penalty, the pace was more consistent, especially in the last laps, when I was more competitive. I'm happy because it was a solid race. Now we have to try to enjoy more with the new tyre, which is where I notice the biggest difference with the front riders.”

16th Dani Holgado (+24.212): “We completed Sunday at Le Mans with a very tough race. I had fun and I learned, which is the most important thing. I take with me a good experience in this Grand Prix: we have seen the reality of Moto2, it is a category that is not easy and everyone knows that it requires a lot of work. I don't see it as a bad weekend, but as a productive and learning one. I want to thank the team because, although the results have not always been good, they have tried to make us all improve. I take away a great experience and I'm looking forward to more.”
