The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider will start the final race of the year from the front row of the grid, in third position
Máximo Quiles has once again fought for the Moto3 pole position. The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider set the third fastest time of the day and tomorrow will bid farewell to his first year in the lightweight category from the front row of the starting grid. The Spaniard was just one tenth off the fastest time, which went to Adrián Fernández. His teammate David Almansa was second fastest on Saturday. Dennis Foggia will start from fourteenth place after making it through Q1 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
The second day of the Valencia Grand Prix began with a noticeable improvement in track conditions compared to yesterday. In this morning's free practice, both Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia improved on their times from Friday and fine-tuned the final details for this afternoon's qualifying and Sunday's race. In the afternoon, Dennis Foggia had to compete in Q1, although the Italian showed good progress that allowed him to qualify for Q2. In that session, the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team rider maintained a great pace and quickly achieved a good lap, but he did not change tyres in the final minutes, which prevented him from improving his time, a 1:37.702, with which he will start the last race of the year from fourteenth. On the other hand, his teammate Máximo Quiles fought for pole position again this weekend. The Spanish rider, who confirmed his participation in Q2 yesterday, has been very consistent since he took to the track and was one of the most competitive riders of the day. Quiles gave his all to achieve his third pole position in Moto3 and was just one tenth of a second away from achieving it, but he will still start the final round of the season from the front row, in third place.
3rd Máximo Quiles 1:37.165 (+0.175): “I'm trying to get the most out of both the bike and my riding. I'm looking for the limit, but at the same time I'm enjoying myself because I like that feeling. We're going to try to improve a couple of details so that tomorrow I can ride a little more comfortable. Today I struggled a bit going through the corners, there was some chattering in some places, but in the end I was able to do a good lap. We'll have to see how the tyres perform during the race. There will definitely be degradation, but it will be a very fast race and we'll have to see who dares to push from the start and hold on.”
14th Dennis Foggia 1:37.702 (+0.712): “This morning I took a good step forward compared to yesterday. We didn't change tyres in qualifying and I wasn't able to improve my time at the end of the session. I wanted to set a good time from the start and then try to improve on it, but in the end it didn't happen. I feel I have great pace for the race, we've improved a lot in that aspect. Tomorrow I'll start from a little behind, I'm sure there will be a large group from the early laps, so it will be important to get off to a good start”.
