The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has concluded his debut season in Moto2 with a second-place finish in Valencia
Dani Holgado gave another masterclass in riding at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider fought for his third victory in the intermediate category until the very end and finished the Valencia Grand Prix in second place. The Spanish rider was unable to overtake a great Izan Guevara, who crossed the finish line seven tenths of a second ahead. Iván Ortolá completed the final Moto2 podium of the season, the first in the intermediate category with three riders who have come through the ranks of the Aspar Team Junior. David Alonso had a difficult Sunday after being involved in a crash on the second corner and finished in eighteenth position.
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team bid farewell to a memorable season in the intermediate category on Sunday. Dani Holgado led the starting grid for the fifth time in 2025 and from the outset tried to stay at the top of the standings. The Spaniard was overtaken by Izan Guevara in the first few corners, but was able to stay close to him to prevent him from pulling away. Holgado gave his all in each of the twenty-two laps and, on the last lap, tried to attack to secure what would have been his third Moto2 victory. The best rookie in the category did not achieve his goal, but he added another podium finish to his tally by crossing the finish line in front of the home crowd in second place. His teammate David Alonso faced a difficult end to the season. The Colombian was forced to fight his way up from the back of the starting grid, but an incident on the second corner nearly caused him to crash along with other riders. Alonso was able to save the situation and continue to move up a few places, but he was unable to reach the points positions and finished in eighteenth place. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team finished the season as the third best team in Moto2 thanks to the outstanding results achieved by both riders.
2nd Dani Holgado (+0.717): “I'm very happy with the whole season in general, not just this race. It's been an incredible year, with a lot of learning and I've been evolving in every race. Finishing the weekend and the championship with a podium feels great. I gave it my all, I tried to get the win until the end, but it wasn't easy. When you give one hundred per cent, you can be very proud of yourself. Competing in Valencia is always different, people come eager to see us, so I hope they enjoyed a good show. See you next year with the same enthusiasm, we will continue working and keeping our feet on the ground. I am very motivated to continue growing.”
18th David Alonso (+23.925): “The race was quite complicated. When I start from the back, I always try to choose the option that allows me to overtake more riders, but it always has its risks. Several riders crashed in the second corner and I was on the outside. Luckily, I was able to avoid the crash, but I fell behind a bit. I didn't know it during the race, but the team told me afterwards that the brake disc had bent on impact. That affected me even more: I couldn't understand why I couldn't get into the corners properly because there was a lot more vibration. It wasn't comfortable to ride like that, and it made for a very long race. The year didn't end the way we wanted it to, but now it's time to think about next season and keep working to improve even more.”
