Torres shines in the rain get back-to-back podiums

The Openbank Aspar Team rider has finished third in the second race in Sachsenring and has achieved his second podium in two weeks

The Openbank Aspar Team rider Jordi Torres has shone in the German GP and has achieved his second podium of the season. Sachsenring is a track that adapts to Torres' style and the Spanish has not failed. After finishing fifth in the first race, Torres has taken a step forward in the second, which has been held in wet conditions, and he has finished third. Torres has been involved in an intense battle with Óscar Gutiérrez until the last lap, which ended with the Openbank Aspar Team rider ahead. Torres has felt very comfortable in the wet conditions and although he believes he could have fought for more, he ends up pretty satisfied before the summer break.

His teammate Kevin Zannoni has had to go to the medical centre after yesterday's heavy crash and has been declared fit to go out on the track. In the first race, the Italian has finished in eighth position after starting tenth. In the second, Zannoni has suffered a lot and has only been able to finish in fifteenth position. The Openbank Aspar Team rider was very sore today, but he has been able to finish both in the points, two very valuable results for the fight for the championship.

Héctor Garzó has won both races in the German GP. The first race has been conditioned by the crashes of Eric Granado and Armando Pontone in the first lap, which have meant the session needed to be stopped. The race has been resumed with only five laps and in them Garzó has set his pace. Alessandro Zaccone has finished second and Nicholas Spinelli third. The rain has been the protagonist of the second race in Germany, as it has forced it to be delayed and cut to just eight laps. Garzó has won again, this time with Spinelli in second position and Torres third. With these results, Garzó is the new MotoE leader and has a 25-point advantage over the second, Mattia Casadei. Openbank Aspar Team rider Kevin Zannoni is fourth, 32 points off the leader. The electric category has more than a month of rest ahead of it before the Austrian GP, the penultimate event before the last races in Misano.

5th/3rd Jordi Torres: “Today has been a day in which we have shown our potential. The first race has been very short and, although I have been competitive, we have suffered and have saved it with a fifth position. In the second race I felt very comfortable with the bike from the sighting lap, but the rain has changed everything. Luckily, in water we have defended ourselves well. It has been a race in which we have had to improvise, because we had not ridden in those conditions. I have been strong in the wet, although it is still difficult for me to overtake. When I have reached third position, second was already very far away, but I think I could have achieved more. Third position is very good and we are already thinking about the next race.”

8th/15th Kevin Zannoni: “There is nothing to say because it has been a very difficult and unfortunate weekend. In qualifying, due to a problem with the bike I crashed and got injured. I did not know if I would be able to compete today, in the end I have been able to, but I have scored only a few points. In the first race I have finished eighth, a great result with my physical condition. The second race, in the wet, has been really complicated, although we have been able to score a point. Now we have the summer break to recover and think about Austria, which is my favourite track.”
