Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni complete the last two MotoE races in the top 10
Power Electronics Aspar brought the curtain down on the electric MotoE World Championship today with the final two races of the season, finishing the year as the fourth best team in the category. Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni finished both races at the Algarve track in the top 10 after impressive comebacks from the back of the grid. The Portuguese Grand Prix crowned the latest champion of the electric category, Italian Alessandro Zaccone, who needed only a victory and a fourth-place finish in Portimao to secure his first world championship title after a consistent season in which he achieved three wins and a total of five podium finishes. Mattia Casadei was unable to close the gap to his compatriot, but managed to retain second place in the standings, ahead of Matteo Ferrari, who climbed two positions in this final race week and finishes the year in third.
Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni brought their time with Power Electronics Aspar to a close with impressive comebacks in both races held today at the Portuguese circuit. Torres started from eleventh position and Zannoni from seventeenth. The Spaniard scored the most points today (16, compared to 15 for the Italian), finishing ninth and seventh in the two races. After a day of changeable conditions yesterday, both riders were hampered by their grid positions in today's races, what forced them to fight their way through the field and make up ground on the leading riders, something they both accomplished without difficulty. With these results, Kevin Zannoni finishes 2025 in eighth position in the standings, with 122 points, while Jordi Torres finishes in eleventh place, with a total of 104.
9th/7th Jordi Torres: "In the first race, it was a bit difficult to get a good feeling after the very changeable conditions we had over the weekend. We also started quite far back due to the mistake I made in qualifying. The mechanics worked incredibly hard to get a good setup for the second race, in which I felt much better on the bike. I maintained a pretty good pace, but our starting position was a factor again. I had fun and enjoyed myself a lot in these last two races. These last three years have been a rollercoaster of emotions and sensations. I'm super happy with the team and with having been able to enjoy these seasons with the Power Electronics Aspar Team, with Jorge, with Nico... I want to thank and congratulate my entire team. We've worked together and tried to evolve the category, to keep pushing, and to help the organizers always try to get the best performance. I'm very proud of that. It's a category that was very new in every sense, where you had to know exactly what you had at any given moment to get the maximum possible performance. I've learned a lot as a rider, I have very good memories with the Power Electronics Aspar Team, and I'm sure we'll meet again. I wish all the team members a great future ahead."
8th/9th Kevin Zannoni: "In the end, it was a good day, because starting from the back of the grid isn't easy, but we achieved good results in both races. I think we did the best we could. Yesterday we made some mistakes that penalized us today. I'm happy to have achieved good results, to have managed to climb nine positions and finish in the top 10. I want to thank the team for these two years; they've done a fantastic job and given me the opportunity to be here. It's been two wonderful seasons with them."
