Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni will continue working this weekend to regain positive feelings and close the gap in the MotoE standings
The Power Electronics Aspar Team is immersed in the most intense stretch of the 2025 MotoE World Championship season. Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni arrive in Barcelona this week to tackle the fifth round of the calendar, the third in less than a month. Both had a difficult weekend at Balaton Park, where Zannoni scored two top 10 finishes and Torres was eleventh in the only race he competed in (he was unable to take part in the restart of the first race due to a crash). The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will provide extra motivation, especially for Jordi Torres, who will be competing in front of his home crowd. His teammate Zannoni also has great memories of the Catalan circuit, as he achieved his first MotoE victory there in 2024. The Power Electronics Aspar Team riders are looking to get back on track after their podium finishes in France and the Netherlands. Following the results of the last round in Hungary, Torres is eighth with 76 points and Zannoni is ninth with 63 points.
The MotoE overall standings were turned upside down at the last round with Mattia Casadei's double victory. The Italian had a great weekend at Balaton Park, scoring all 50 points up for grabs and becoming the new leader in the category. Casadei has a 14-point lead over his compatriot Lorenzo Baldasarri, who also finished on the podium in Hungary. The previous leader, Andrea Mantovani, dropped to third place, tied on points with Alessandro Zaccone. Despite this change, the differences in MotoE remain very close, with up to eight riders within less than 50 points of each other, including Power Electronics Aspar Team rider Jordi Torres. Barcelona will be an exciting venue for the electric category, which faces the final rounds of the season with everything still to play for.
Jordi Torres: “This weekend we are racing at home, on a circuit that always brings back good memories and where we have had some good races. We have to push as hard as we can and continue to make our mark when we have the opportunity. We are not working in the wrong direction, but it is important to understand the problems we have with the front tyre, even if it is sometimes difficult to understand. The goal is to find a little more information, because we have a bike with very good braking and we are coming to a circuit where we can do well.”
Kevin Zannoni: “Barcelona is a special place for me because I got my first world championship win there. We're going through some difficulties this year, but in Hungary we were able to take another step forward. I want to keep working in this direction with the team to get back to being competitive like we were at the start of the season.”
