Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni face the penultimate round of the season after regaining their confidence in Barcelona
The Power Electronics Aspar Team is entering the final stretch of the 2025 season. Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni are travelling to San Marino this week to compete in the penultimate round before a long break of almost two months until the final round in Portimao, in November. Both riders took a step forward last week in Barcelona and regained the positive feelings they had at the start of the season. At the same time, Zannoni came close to the podium positions and finished fourth in the second race, the best result of the Catalan Grand Prix for the Power Electronics Aspar Team. The Italian will compete in his home race this weekend, which is extra motivation to fight for the podium again. In addition, Zannoni wants to make up for last year's Misano event, when he saw his chances of fighting for the championship title vanish after suffering a crash. On the other hand, Jordi Torres is confident of taking that step forward with the team to confirm the good feelings from Barcelona and be able to fight for a return to the podium. With two rounds remaining, Zannoni is ninth with 86 points and Torres is tenth with 79.
The title fight has fewer contenders, with Italian riders dominating the top of the standings. Mattia Casadei remains the leader, but is tied on 132 points with Lorenzo Baldassarri after his crash in Barcelona. Alessandro Zaccone is third, 10 points behind. Nicolas Spinello and Matteo Ferrari complete the top five, 18 and 20 points behind Casadei respectively. Brazilian Eric Granado still has a chance, sitting sixth, 23 points behind. Up to 15 riders will arrive in San Marino with a mathematical chance of becoming champion, although depending on the results, that number will be reduced for the final showdown in Portugal.
Jordi Torres: “After the weekend in Barcelona didn't go as we would have liked, we have a new opportunity to improve in Misano. We are competitive on Fridays and we have once again shown that we can be at the front. We have to keep working on Saturdays to find the key that will allow us to fight for the podium.”
Kevin Zannoni: “This weekend we are racing at home, so I have extra motivation. In the last races in Hungary and Barcelona, I regained my good feelings, especially last week. I want to do well. Last season I was fast there, although I don't have good memories because I lost my chances at the title due to a crash. I'm looking forward to getting back on the podium.”
