Quiles aims to keep the comeback alive in Barcelona

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team faces the last races before the overseas with a new double-header that will start in Barcelona

Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia want to continue fighting at the top in the Catalan Grand Prix. The fifteenth round of the season comes at a great time for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team after Quiles' exciting victory in Hungary. The 17-year-old rider has achieved results worthy of an experienced Moto3 rider: six podiums, two victories and two pole positions, having competed in four fewer races than the rest of his rivals. His latest results have earned him the sole lead in the Moto3 rookie standings and moved him up to third place in the overall standings with 164 points. On this occasion, Quiles wants to continue fighting for the top positions in front of the local fans. His teammate Dennis Foggia already knows what it's like to be on the podium at the Catalan circuit, where he finished third in 2020. Despite facing a difficult race at Balaton Park, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider is confident he can turn things around to be competitive again and fight for the top positions in the standings. The Italian currently occupies twelfth place with 83 points.

Moto3 leader José Antonio Rueda has not been on the podium in the last two rounds, something that had only happened to him this year between Aragón and Italy. In any case, the Seville rider was able to minimise the damage and finished fifth in both races. This has reduced his lead over second-placed Ángel Piqueras to 69 points, after Piqueras won in Austria and finished fourth in Hungary. The battle for third place remains tight, although the gap has widened after the Hungarian round: Máximo Quiles is third, David Muñoz fourth, nine points behind, and Álvaro Carpe fifth, also nine points behind Muñoz.

Máximo Quiles: “It's one of our home GPs after many races away, so I'm really looking forward to getting to Barcelona. I'm very excited to feel the fans again. We're very motivated after the victory in Hungary, but we're still taking it race by race and enjoying ourselves on the bike. The goal is to try to fight for the win and the podium, but above all, to enjoy.”

Dennis Foggia: “In Barcelona, I want to give that extra bit that we lacked in the last race. We have analysed what could have happened and the goal is to be consistent from start to finish, as this will be key to being at the front. We have the speed, the feeling is good, we just need to keep refining those details to put it all into practice.”
