Máximo Quiles takes the first victory of the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park thanks to a masterful overtaking on the last corner

Máximo Quiles has swept at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was the star of the show all weekend, starting from pole position and fighting for victory right up to the final metres. The Spaniard, who led throughout the three days, fought hard to secure his second victory of the season ahead of Valentín Perrone, who finished second, just 18 thousandths away from his first victory. David Muñoz crossed the finish line in third place, ahead of Ángel Piqueras and José Antonio Rueda, fourth and fifth respectively. Dennis Foggia fought for the top 10 and finished eleventh.

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team has kicked off a great Sunday of racing at Balaton Park from pole position. Máximo Quiles was the fastest in yesterday's qualifying and today he went into the race ready to fight for another victory after narrowly missing out on the podium in Austria. The Spaniard got off to a good start and led for the first few laps, setting a fast pace and trying to extend his lead over his rivals. Halfway through the race, Quiles dropped to fourth place due to a small mistake, but it only took him a few laps to return to the top three and continue his comeback to take the lead again in the final laps. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider devised a great strategy for the final lap and waited for the right moment to overtake Perrone in the last few metres and cross the finish line in first place. With this second victory, Quiles has now achieved six podium finishes and is already in the top three of the Moto3 standings with only ten races completed. His teammate Dennis Foggia had to work hard to recover positions in Hungary. The Italian rider started the race from the fourth row and was forced to make a good start if he wanted to catch up with the front group. However, he lost a few places in the early laps and did not have the same feeling as at the start of the weekend. Foggia rode part of the race alone and in the final laps he tried to recover to reach the top 10 in the standings. Unfortunately, the Italian was unable to catch up with his rivals and finished eleventh.

1st Máximo Quiles: "The last lap was impressive, I went a little long so I braked early to be able to come out faster afterwards. I really like this type of race, I enjoyed it a lot and I like that fans can enjoy this show. I want to congratulate Valentín Perrone, he had a great race. The team did a great job this weekend, we are very happy with the result as all the effort has been reflected in this victory. It didn't happen in Austria, but this time I didn't want to let it slip away. It's special to be the first winner at Balaton Park, it's a day to celebrate and enjoy.”

11th Dennis Foggia (+24.862): "It was a pretty difficult race and I didn't find the feeling I had on the first day. I rode at a similar pace to what I had over the weekend. However, I struggled with the fast corners and braking, I couldn't be as consistent as I would have liked and I didn't enjoy it as much. I didn't do badly at the start, but we have to analyse what happened so we can take another step forward and be consistent from start to finish in Barcelona. Thanks to the team for all their work over the weekend."
