CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders David Alonso and Dani Holgado are competing in the intermediate class for the first time after a pre-season of adaptation to their new bike
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team faces a new season in Moto2 with a renewed line-up, with the current Moto3 champion, David Alonso, and the runner-up, Dani Holgado. The two riders, both result of the team's work from the base in the Aspar Team Junior, arrive at their first Moto2 race with enthusiasm and ambition. The Colombian faces the leap to the intermediate category after having won fourteen races in 2024, in a dream season that ended with his first world title and the first manufacturer's title for CFMOTO. Since then, since that victory in Barcelona that sealed an unforgettable campaign, Alonso has put in seven days of testing between Jerez and Portimao on his new bike, the Kalex, with which he hopes to gradually fight for point positions and the top 10.
Alonso shares objectives with Dani Holgado. The Spanish moves up to the intermediate category with four victories and a total of 16 podiums under his belt, but, like Alonso, he is aware that the main goal in Moto2 now is to work on adapting to the new bike in all aspects. For both, the first real challenge after the pre-season days comes this weekend in Thailand. Neither of them has experience in this new category there, but Alonso has fond memories of his victory in Buriram last October. It was his fifth consecutive victory, the twelfth of the season, which made him become the rider with most wins in the lightweight category in a single season.
David Alonso: "The first race of the year is always special, but this year I'm going to take the start of the season as a continuation of the tests, as a new opportunity to continue understanding how to ride the bike. I see this GP as three more days of continuing to grow and to keep adding kilometres until the time comes when I don't have to think so much."
Dani Holgado: "We are ready to start a new season, the first with the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team. The objective this weekend will be to learn a lot and finish the race, because there’s where you learn the most. I will focus on enjoying myself and giving my best."
